JOHANNESBURG RAILWAY: Police arrested a 26-year-old male for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition at Wanderers Taxi rank corner Noord and Wanderers Street on 06 August 2019 at 16:00.
Police were busy with their routine crime prevention duties at a Taxi rank when they saw a suspicious male; when he saw police he changed direction. They stopped and searched him; recovered an unlicensed firearm with live ammunition.
The firearm will be sent to ballistic testing to ascertain if it was used in the commission of serious and violent crimes. Investigation is under way and the suspect will appear soon in the Johannesburg Magistrate Court.
