16 Days of activism for no violence against women and children campaigns gain momentum in Phalaborwa

The station commander of Phalaborwa SAPS Colonel Rakhadani led the 16 days of activism for no violence against women and children campaign held on Sunday, 05 December 2021 at House of Worship International (HOWI) church.

The campaign was attended by different stakeholders that include the CEO of Maphutha L Malatji hospital Dr Sello, members from Traffic Department Fire Brigade , VEP, Vispol member Captain Maraba, Captain Fourie from Finance, Constable Sefole from MIC and Sergeant Mathebula from Phalaborwa FCS Unit.

The initiative aimed at sensitising the congregants about crimes affecting women and children that include; Domestic Violence, Gender Based Violence, different forms of abuse and children’s rights.

During the address by Colonel Rakhadani, she encouraged the congregants to report any form of violence including GBV as well as other crimes that are happening within the society.

She made a commitment that SAPS members will ensure a high level of professionalism when rendering services and in dealing with cases of abuse against women and children.

In her closing remark, Colonel Rakhadani made an appeal to the church to spearhead community safety campaigns by constantly reaching out to the community through the gospel that encourages a crime free society.
